Frankenstein Or Krampus? What Our Monsters Say About Us

by
By Natalie Lawrence, University of Cambridge

Two new monster movies are being released in the lead-up to Christmas, and each sports a very different kind of beast. There’s the man-made creation of Victor Frankenstein in the latest rendition of Mary Shelley’s gothic tale, a grotesque creature cobbled together from “the dissecting room and the slaughter-house”. And then there’s Krampus, an American re-working of the evil Austrian counterpart to Father Christmas.

Famous Mediums - Do They Give the Best Psychic Medium Readings?

by

Mediums have special skills in psychic readings and ability. They are generally specialized in decoding messages from the spirit world using different methods and techniques. The act of medium or channelled readings did not start today, its origins predate history. A lot of people have learnt their efforts, skills and support to make sure that the profession indeed grows.

These people who had contributed in very great ways in promoting the activities of this type are today's famous mediums. Clearly a lot of people have made unquantifiable contributions in helping the profession grow, but there may be few whose own contributions may be outstanding. Nobody may be in a hurry to forget the efforts of these two famous mediums John Edward and Jane Roberts. These famous channels have at various times in their lives lent their efforts in promoting medium activities world wide.

What Is A UFO And Why Are They So Fascinating?

by

A UFO is an Unidentified Flying Object. Based on that definition, anything you see in the sky that you do not recognize as something you’ve seen before (or at least something you know is natively found in our world) would be a UFO. A new type of airplane an unusual looking hot air balloon, and a large R/C aircraft could all be called UFO's.

Doesn’t sound like the UFO’s you have heard of in the media and entertainment fields, does it? That’s because our society is obsessed with another common understanding of the term UFO, which is alien spaceships.

An obsession with aliens is something that dates back a century or more. Comic books in the early to mid 1900’s commonly were about alien invasions or abductions. Today’s movies still pay homage to this fantasy.

But why do we find UFO’s to be such an amazing fascination? Is it because we are fascinated by the possibility of aliens? And if so, then why is that so interesting?

The Haunting on Colonel's Row

by

I have experienced two paranormal occurrences in my life. Thankfully I had witnesses at both events so doubts about my sanity can remain just doubts.

I have now decided to put both down on paper.

Intuition Vs. Psychic Abilities

by
human nature
The words ‘intuition’ and ‘psychic’ might seem interchangeable, at first. They don’t, however, mean the same thing. This article is intended just to get you to delve in a little deeper and understand the difference, and maybe to understand the uses of intuition and psychic abilities a little better. To those ends, we’ll take a more general look at intuitive knowledge and then at how it specifically relates to your psychic experience.

There’s a lot to be said for intuition. For most of human history it was one of the major ways that knowledge was derived from the world. Nearly all of Aristotle’s writings were written “on a hunch” and plenty of his most important hunches are still being considered today.

When we talk about intuition we’re generally addressing a broad feeling, perhaps indistinct, but that can be very strong. It’s also been described as the “un-processed” mental information that all of us receive – and from all kinds of sources – but that we only use for certain situations.

Dragons, Unicorns & Other Legendary Creatures

by
Dragon Statue
Magical and mythological creatures have enticed and fascinated people around the world for centuries. This can be seen in their depiction dating as far back as to the hieroglyphics of the ancient Egyptians. As time progressed, these fantastical animals were written about in world texts, described in countless tales and legends, and more recently these creatures have been depicted in various movies and TV shows. With such a wide array of mythical creatures having been depicted throughout history, how does one decide which of these beautiful creatures are the best? Here is a list of what are arguably the five most amazing and beautiful mythical/magical creatures.

by
"Beau Bailey is suffering from a post-break-up meltdown when she happens across a knife in her local park and takes it home. Less than a week later, the new boy in school has her trapped in an alley; he’s sprouted horns and is going to kill Beau unless she hands over the knife.
Until Eighteenth-century gargoyle, Jack, shows up to save her.
Jack has woken from a century-long slumber to tell Beau that she’s unwittingly been drafted into a power struggle between two immortal races: Demons and Gargoyles. The knife is the only one in existence capable of killing immortals and they’ll tear the world apart to get it back. To draw the warring immortals away from her home, Beau goes with Jack in search of the mind-bending realm known as the Underworld, a place where they’ll hopefully be able to destroy the knife and prevent all hell from breaking loose. That is, provided they can outrun the demons chasing them."

Book Tour: 'The Devil Knows' by K.C. Cavanaugh [Giveaway Included]

by

The Book Tour stop we're hosting today is for 'The Devil Knows', a Paranormal Romance-Drama with a possible special guest appearance from none other than Old Nick himself.

"Never trust the guy," I always say, "and, definitely never make a deal with him." But, of course, if people had never made (or considered making) a deal with him, books like today's one would not have been written and that would have been a shame...

Plus, we would not have been able to host its Book Tour stop and there would not have been an excerpt available for you guys to read and, even worse, there would not have been a Giveaway at the end of this post. Yikes!

So, yeah, perhaps it's a Good Thing that nobody listens to me after all...

Enjoy!

The Book Tour stop we're hosting today is actually a 'Books Tour' as it's not just for one book, or two, or three, but for... four books!

There is a synopsis/blurb for each book from the Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance series and, of course, a bit of info about the author, J. L. McCoy. Quite a mega-packed post today. Wow!

Oh, and, I might have to make a point of mentioning that you may find some cursing words in the excerpts. Just in case, you know...

Today we're hosting another Book Tour stop that I do believe you'll enjoy having a look at...

Not only we have the usual bits of info about the Paranormal Romance novel itself and its author, ST Bende, as well as a book excerpt, but we also have a book trailer for it. Cool, isn't it?

I definitely like the idea of book trailers. That's a brilliant use of YouTube (or any other video sharing site, for that matter) that I hope more writers and publishers will make the most of in future.

Enjoy!

"Life’s stumbles" - A Guest Post by Author R.E. Mullins

by

Today is another glorious day for LoupDargent.info, or, like a book loving Klingon friend used to say "Today is a good day to read", as R.E. Mullins - the author of "It’s A Wonderful Undead Life" (a vampire/romance novel) has kindly accepted to write a Guest Post for us...

I'm, of course, very happy about Robin coming here to "talk" about her journey as a writer, but I'm also a bit worried regarding the refreshments situation as I'm not too sure if I should offer her a cup of coffee or a glass of... erm... yep... blood(Sorry, I'm afraid you will have to read the rest of this post to understand this little joke).

Don't worry, she doesn't really bite... so keep calm and carry on reading!

Enjoy!

'Inspiration' - A Guest Post by Author Nicole R. Taylor

by

Don't worry, I'm not going to go all "The Only Way Is Essex" on you guys, but I must admit I was tempted to start this little introduction with a loud "OMG, guess what?!". I believe it could have been justified though, as, Nicole R. Taylor (the author of 'The Witch Hunter'), is visiting LoupDargent.info once again (must be something in our virtual coffee) and, this time, she is talking about... inspiration.

The inspiration behind a writer's work is always something I'm curious about, so I'm obviously very happy about Nicole's chosen topic...but, I'm also pretty sure somehow that you guys will find Nicole's "talk" about it very interesting (and enjoyable) too.

Happy reading!
