Intuition Vs. Psychic Abilities

human nature
The words ‘intuition’ and ‘psychic’ might seem interchangeable, at first. They don’t, however, mean the same thing. This article is intended just to get you to delve in a little deeper and understand the difference, and maybe to understand the uses of intuition and psychic abilities a little better. To those ends, we’ll take a more general look at intuitive knowledge and then at how it specifically relates to your psychic experience.

There’s a lot to be said for intuition. For most of human history it was one of the major ways that knowledge was derived from the world. Nearly all of Aristotle’s writings were written “on a hunch” and plenty of his most important hunches are still being considered today.

When we talk about intuition we’re generally addressing a broad feeling, perhaps indistinct, but that can be very strong. It’s also been described as the “un-processed” mental information that all of us receive – and from all kinds of sources – but that we only use for certain situations.

Most people will take their first impression of someone new very seriously and base their willingness to trust – or not to trust – on that first impression. Beyond issues of trust, reservation or acceptance, intuition is dismissed by much of the larger world as being superstitious, non-scientific and thus prone to error. It can be. But anyone working on developing their psychic abilities or using their psychic abilities will tell you that objective scientific knowledge is not all there is to the world.

Intuition can be thought of as a sum total of intellectual ability put to use rarely. The fact is, we don’t often have a use for it. Novelists do. Artists and creators of all kinds use intuitive knowledge. Children learn languages almost entirely through a process of intuitive trial and error that works incredibly well, quickly and that can hardly be replicated among adults. But most of us, in the course, of our day-to-day lives rely on intuition very little.

Psychics, on the other hand, work hard to develop cutting edge intuitive strengths that can – and often do – grow into extra-sensory and super-sensory ways of knowing, predicting and communicating. Any good psychic will tell you, the information they perceive is NOT good for every kind of decision you’ll face in a day. This is just like intuitive knowledge.

What truth do you gain from a really good novel? The fact is, any lover of literature will tell you; you can gain a lot from a novel. It is real, human and useful truth, but summing it up into “the moral of the story” or any quick allegorical truth will simply not do justice to the truth of the novel. On the contrary, you’ll have less truth in your summary than the greater truth that was, again, derived almost entirely through the intuitive process followed by the novelist in writing it down.

Now think about that for a moment.

Your novel may not be useful for your decision as to where to live, or what career path to follow. But it does contain a truth that informs you as the person who is making those decisions. Suddenly, your intuition is stronger and your decisions are more sound.

Trusting your psychic, then, means trusting some one who is in the habit of thinking like a novelist. What are the possibilities of stretching ones perceptions beyond what other people’s senses will do? What are the possibilities of seeing without instant judgment, but with compassion and sensitivity? Very few of us will look and really see and while that may sound very “ugga-bugga,” the majority of our sensory experiences are most certainly clouded by judgments rendered far too quickly and with extreme prejudice.

The witness of a blocked flow of energy through the chakras or a change in the color of the aura needs to practice unfettered empathy, refined compassionate understanding and a patient suspension of liking or not liking. Most of what we do is simply to like and to not like, as if our world is but a television to be flicked through.

No one will tell you that the human brain is well understood. Most people accept without hesitation that a normal person uses but some 13% of their mental capacity.  Yet there is extreme skepticism as to whether we can develop to take advantage of 15% or 20% as psychics, or even as scientists and business leaders.

Perhaps we might accept more easily that artists or novelists have reached a level of self-motivated, focused and intuitive “genius” but then we’ll ask, “Ok what is the product of that genius good for?” Is it simply to make something that we will like – or not like?

Understand then, that psychics are generally applying their abilities to the understanding – often the advanced, careful and compassionate understanding – of people and situations that are not simply true or false. They are not simply to be agreed with or disagreed with.
