Oscars And Globes And SAGs, Oh My! Get Ready For Awards Season

Awards season is upon us, and whether you simply like movies or are enamored with celebrities, awards season can be a great time for you to have some fun while watching the Oscars, Globes and SAGs. There are plenty of ways that you can get ready for and even enjoy awards season, and the following are four tips to help you do just that.

1. Watch all nominated movies.
In order to enjoy the awards shows, take the time to see all the movies that are or will be nominated for each respective award. Doing so will allow you to hold some better conversations with friends or family members while watching the ceremonies, and it will even allow you to create your own opinions on which movies and actors you believe should win. Take your time and watch a new movie every week, or spend a weekend hosting a movie marathon with friends and family members to prepare for the upcoming awards shows.

2. Watch past winning movies.
It’s always fun to compare this year’s nominees to winners of previous years. Decide which category you like best, whether best movie, best actor, etc., and watch movies that won that award category the previous few years. You can then compare that movie/actor to the nominees and winners this year to see which one you think was better. This can make it fun for you to watch the awards shows this year.

3. Hold a viewing party.
If you and your friends and family members really like awards season, why not host a viewing party? Get all your friends and family members together to watch the awards ceremony together. You can even theme the party too. Have everyone dress up in their best gowns and tuxedos, have everyone dress up as their favorite celebrity, or have everyone dress up as a nominee from one of this year’s categories. If that celebrity does win an award, your guests can even make their own acceptance speech.

No matter what type of party you throw, be sure to have drinks and food on hand for your guests. You can simply provide drinks and hors d’oeuvres, or you can cater your dishes to the specific theme of your party. Make sure you have enough food and drinks to go around too. It’s always better to be stuck with leftovers than to have your guests go hungry.

4. Brush up on your movie knowledge.
It’s always fun to understand exactly what you’re watching, so why not brush up on your movie knowledge? You can take the time to learn the movie lingo so you understand what everyone talks about in his or her speeches. You can even do some research on the people and movies that are nominated and come up with some fun facts to share with others at your awards show viewing party. This is a great way to get the conversation flowing and to also add some interesting elements to the show.
