The One About The Dog And The Scary Lift (Video)

by
  • In today's post, we actually prove that it's not just the cats that are curious...
I'm not sure if that's going to help the dogs' side in the Dogs Vs Cats debate, but with Halloween being so close, it was strongly felt that this video had to be re-posted (we posted it a few years ago in 'Forward and Share', but as the old site is now deleted, etc... etc... etc...) due to its weirdness and Halloween-ish feeling..

Hopefully dog owners will forgive me and see it as what it is: a funny video-clip, nothing else... Oh and, by the way, the video might be fake.
To be fair, someone should have taught him how to read, I suppose...I mean, going into a building called 'Tower of Terror' at night and on his own was like asking for something scary to happen, wasn't it?
Watch the video clip and see how the poor dog ends his nocturnal visit to Disneyland, Paris.

Enjoy.... and do feel free to laugh out loud.

Pumpkin Painting: Halloween Activity For The Whole Family

by

Pumpkins:
You can eat them...
You can carve them...
And you can even paint them.

If you like playing with your food, Halloween could be the perfect time to do that without being told off...

All you need to do is follow the instructions given by JoAnne Westcott, our Guest Writer for today, and you'll now have a wonderful golden excuse that you can use for many years to come.

Two cousins, the boy dressed in military camou...

"Painted pumpkins, now that could be a great Halloween treat for all those little "trick-or-treaters" methinks... I mean, hey, that would definitely be healthier than giving sweets, don't you think?
Oh, alright then... Have it your own way."

We've added a video-clip to today's post...
It's about,well... yes, you've guessed it... pumpkins.
But, it's an alternative take on Halloween
and what we do to the poor things at that time of year...

Watch it, but be warned: After that,
you won't look at pumpkins the
same way ever again.

Enjoy...

Pumpkin Painting:
A Halloween Activity
For The Whole Family
JoAnne Westcott

A carved jack-o-lantern may very well be
the most recognized symbol for the Halloween
holiday. But using a sharp knife to carve them
is not exactly an activity that everyone, especially
the children who are the biggest fans
of Halloween, can do.

And how many parents have stayed up late,
the night before Halloween, carving their
jack-o-lanterns, only to see that same
pumpkin collapse just days after the big holiday?

During a field trip to a pumpkin farm, I discovered
a Halloween craft activity that even the youngest
members of the family can participate in.
Pumpkin painting is a fun and safe way to
celebrate autumn and Halloween.

This quick and easy craft is perfect for family
activities, preschool or elementary school parties,
Girl Scout gatherings or Halloween parties.

With just a few supplies: pumpkins of any size,
craft paint, brushes, sealer and your imagination,
anyone can transform a plain pumpkin into a
whimsical, life-like character.

By tracing a pattern onto the pumpkin,
young children can “paint by numbers” to
create their own Halloween masterpiece.

With a bit of creative planning, scrap fabric,
craft supplies, hats and jewelry can transform
the painted pumpkin into a character worthy
of name-giving.

The best feature of painted pumpkins is
their lifespan. A pumpkin, once carved, will last
three to five days at the most before it begins to
collapse and rot. A painted pumpkin, when sealed
properly, will last four weeks or longer!

Because of the extended lifespan, painted pumpkins
make the perfect porch decoration, dining table
centerpiece or gifts for teachers, friends and family.

And a great way to make your pumpkin work
double-duty is to paint one side for Halloween.
When Halloween is over, turn the pumpkin around,
paint some autumn leaves and leave it on your porch
for a beautiful Thanksgiving decoration!

The One About The Ancient Origin Of Halloween Masks

by
Photo of a Halloween trick-or-treater, Redford...

Submitted by Paul Hulse

The ancient custom of wearing Halloween masks, just like Halloween itself, goes back to the ancient ritual called Samhain, the origins of modern Halloween. Unlike Halloween masks today, which are worn for fun and trick-or-treating, Halloween masks during Samhain were used for religious purposes, believed to protect them from evil spirits and ghosts. Halloween masks have evolved since those first ceremonies 2,000 years ago into a festive way to celebrate Halloween, with young children parading around in masks during trick-or-treat. Here are the true origins of Halloween masks and how they've evolved over the centuries.

Is My Next Door Neighbour A Vampire?

by

'That important and vital question on almost everyone's lips...
The one that, once answered, could make the ultimate difference between staying alive and ending up as a creature of the night... But, also, the one that not many people dare asking aloud.'

FanFilms Time: Fluffy The English Vampire Slayer (2001)

by
"Fluffy, a vampire slayer based in England,
has to defeat the evil Count Von Whedon when
he gets his hands on a magical ring giving him
surprising new powers..."

If you haven't watched a fan film before,
this one is probably the one that will
make you want for more...

It's a visual gem made by Henry Burrows
and Foiled Productions.

Fortunately, since I've written my original
review, Henry and Foiled Productions have
made the film available more widely...

Yep, instead of the short opening
sequence that I had originally added then,
you can now watch and enjoy the whole thing!

So, get the popcorn ready, get comfortable and have fun...

Meet Fluffy
the English
Vampire Slayer
Loup Dargent

Not The Chosen One
With Buffy Anne Summers having been, up to the last
season, the chosen one, the possibility for any potential
slayer
to become the world's saviour and kick lots of
demonic
and vampiric backsides was very remote to say
the least...

Being number eleven on the list, Fluffy Winters, the slaying
English rose, kind of knew somehow that her big day would
never happen.

Fortunately, not all demons and vampires were stupid
enough to stay in the vicinity of Sunnydale and, even if
by doing so they missed the chance to appear briefly on
the popular TV show or even bed the former cheerleader,
some of them chose to play it safe by keeping as far away
from it as possible.

Well, they thought it would be safer anyway...

Welcome To Sunningdale
Sunningdale is a town situated in the South of England,
and Fluffy is that town's protector against the forces of evil.

Like the other slayer, she has her own Watcher,
Ted Farmer - an American who can't join the Watchers'
Council because of his nationality, as well as her own
Scoobies: her best friends Alex Harrison - Fluffy's personal
wooden stakes handler, and Ash Johannesburg - the first
ever person in Sunningdale to have been saved by Fluffy and
a wannabe witch.

Together, they are a force to be reckoned with...
The local demons and vampires quickly discovered
that fact the hard way.

Not The TV Show
Those vampires and demons that haven't met Fluffy
and her team yet and are not convinced by their peers'
testimonies should watch the short movie conveniently
titled 'Fluffy The English Vampire Slayer' and eventually
learn from it...

Okay, the vampires' make up is closer to the Buffy
movie itself than the BTVS TV show but, it's still
somehow a must for all the Buffy fans 'out there'.

That what it is primarily: a fan film made in homage
to the Slayer
as well as being for its makers a fun way

of giving something back to the Buffy universe... and it
works in my book.

Where And How?
For those interested in knowing more about the English slayer
and her friends, she has a website where you can find more
info and details as well as being able to download the short-movie
free right here
