Is Interactive Literature And Film A Serious Possibility For The Future?

by

We all know that feeling that we wished the final pages of a book would be somewhat different, or that your favorite character should have been treated differently. The idea of allowing the reader or the viewer to take an active part in deciding the course of action in a novel or a movie is pretty old, but in spite of amazing new technologies it seems that serious artistic mediums are not very keen on it and readers and viewers are not that interested. Is this only because the technologies are not yet immersive enough and what is the difference between participating in an interactive video game and being able to choose between multiple plot lines in a movie?

Wasteland 2 - Sequel To The Original Post-apocalyptic Game

by
Wasteland 2

The original Wasteland would always have the distinction of being the pioneer of post-apocalyptic genre of gaming. Some people unknowingly credit Bethesda’s Fallout series to have kick started the genre, but in actuality, Wasteland was the game that started it all. Now, we have a sequel to the genre spawning game titled Wasteland 2, emerging after a hiatus of 25 years! At the development helm are inXile Entertainment and Obsidian Entertainment and the game (much to the dismay of console owners) would be a PC exclusive. Another distinguishing feature of the game is that it’s being funded by the general public. This method of financing is termed as a “kick starter”, so it stands to reason that expectations are running high even before the release of the game, which is scheduled somewhere in the late half of 2013.

Max Payne: Ready to take on a New World and New Generation

by

Since we last had the frozen frown of Max Payne slow-mo shooting his way through New York’s criminal underworld a lot has changed and many more of Rockstar’s memorable protagonists have come our way. We have moved to a new generation of consoles and have got to grips with the likes Grand Theft Auto IV’s cynical but sympathetic Niko Bellic, the true grit of Red Dead Redemption’s John Marston and most recently but unfortunately less memorably, the stern and straight-laced story of L.A Noire’s Cole Phelps – but now Max is back and he seems ready reclaim the mantle of our favourite dishevelled and down-on-his-luck character in Max Payne 3, finally released after a stutter at the starting blocks on May 18th.

In what has nearly been 10 years since Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne was released on the last generation of consoles, a lot more has changed other than Rockstar’s repertoire of movie-like protagonists, as whether we like it or not, what we have come to expect as gamers has evolved and the technology used to develop these blockbusters certainly has done so. Max Payne might be an old dog, but he’s going to have to learn some new tricks if Max Payne 3 is going to live up to the expectations of fans of old and newcomers to the series alike.

The French Trailers (In English) For 'Battlefield 3' And 'The Heroes of Halloween'

by
It's a "two for the price of one" kind of post, today...

First, we have a trailer for 'Battlefield 3', targeted to the French market, but in English (rather convenient for those of you guys who don't speak my lingo, isn't it?).

According to Wikipedia, "Battlefield 3 (commonly abbreviated to BF3) is a first-person shooter action video game, being developed by EA Digital Illusions CE and to be published by Electronic Arts. The game is set to be released on October 25, 2011 on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and EA Mobile confirmed a port for the iOS platform.... And it is a direct sequel to 2005's Battlefield 2, and the eleventh installment in the Battlefield franchise."

But, I have the feeling that most of you already knew all that... Still, just in case, you can click here for more information.
The second trailer is Halloween related alright (which is very timely for us as we are posting Halloween related stuff at the moment)... and still part of the Battlefield Universe.
It's one for 'Battlefield Heroes - The Heroes of Halloween'.

It's also another trailer for the French market... and it's in English as well. Cool!
"They are the stuff of nightmares...
They are the creatures that go bump in the night…
And someone… has woken them up.

Step onto a new Battlefield (If you dare) and take to fight as the fiendish creatures of the night on the new map Perilous Port. With all new Machetes in hand no longer shall the evil be contained in myth and legend but instead unleashed to cause havoc and mayhem..."
Yep, very Halloweenish indeed.
Okay, now... I'll come clean.

When I said it was a a "two for the price of one" kind of post, today... well, I lied.

There is another video-clip and this one is in French.

It's called 'Battlefield 3™ TV - Ć©pisode1' and it's the first episode from the Battlefield 3 Youtube French channel. Quite a nice initiative there:
"Retrouvez nous 2 fois par mois Ơ partir de maintenant, pour suivre l'actu de Battlefield 3, partir Ơ la rencontre des dƩveloppeurs de DICE. Prochainement, nous vous proposerons aussi des guides de jeu et des vidƩos commentƩes, l'actu des compƩtitions et bien d'autres choses encore "
(They invite the French Battlefield community to follow their twice monthly updates and info. And, apparently, it's not only about the game Battlefield 3 itself, but also about competitions and many other things too.)
Well, that's it for today....

Enjoy!... Have fun!... Stay safe!
