Modern Astronomy And The Universe [Infographic]

by
Over time, ancient astronomy and research has adapted and allowed us to make tremendous advancements in understanding our universe. From Galileo’s invention of the 3x and 30x telescopes to Sir William Herschel’s discovery of Uranus, scientists and astronomers have been able to expand our knowledge of space by using the tools available to them. Just think about it; 500 years ago it was still a popularly held belief that the earth was the center of the universe and all other planets orbited around us. When looking at the modern technology used to map the universe and study its nature it is important to analyze the profound impact of the Hubble Space Telescope. Launched in 1990, Hubble was the first major optical telescope to be placed in space. In its 20-year lifetime it has made more than 930,000 observations and taken over 570,000 photos of 30,000 celestial objects. You can learn more about life in space and the universe by reading through the infographic below.

Warm 2013 Stirs Debate

by
Everyone maintains their own unique opinions about global warming. Even scientific data is
sliced in various ways to support arguments falling on both sides of the issue. So it is with great
anticipation that climatologists assemble year-end information about global weather conditions.

While preliminary studies have been released for the calendar year 2013, the data used to
compile findings is actually based on information gleaned from January through October. The
full-year report will follow in March, once the November and December figures are assessed.

A preliminary look at 2013, illustrates a comparatively warm year, perhaps ranking among the
warmest average temperatures in history. In addition to last year's data, the UK Met Office
released a forecast for similarly warm conditions in 2014.

The Hazards Of Urinating In Public

by
public urination
The header itself will probably make you think you don't need to read this because you're never ever going to do it anyway. But wait...before you definitively say that, think of circumstances you may find yourself in which makes you do just that - pee in public.

Public urination is viewed on different levels of tolerance. In some countries, it is a normal everyday occurrence, even if it usually happens at night. In others, usually in the Western side of the globe, the act of urinating publicly is taboo, even illegal. So, before you attempt it, know the local culture of the place you're in and the laws regarding public peeing.

Top 10 New Year Resolutions that Tend to Go Wrong [Infographic]

by

New Year resolutions are a great tradition meant to better our lives and give us a fresh start come every 1st January. But, as people like to say, traditions are meant to be broken and that is exactly what usually happens to our brave New Year resolutions.

From the grudgingly muttered, ‘I will never drink again,’ when the New Year’s Day hangover hits full stride to the ever-so-familiar oath to change our jobs for something we love; the resolutions come in all shapes and sizes, but rarely stick around for long. In all honesty, we always try to go by them, but it rarely lasts for more than a few hours or a couple of weeks at best. And sadly, we will probably make the same resolutions next year and get the same results.

The infographic below shows the top ten New Year resolutions that fail on most occasions. Losing weight, reading more, stressing less and learning new skills are all there. Are yours?

Intuition Vs. Psychic Abilities

by
human nature
The words ‘intuition’ and ‘psychic’ might seem interchangeable, at first. They don’t, however, mean the same thing. This article is intended just to get you to delve in a little deeper and understand the difference, and maybe to understand the uses of intuition and psychic abilities a little better. To those ends, we’ll take a more general look at intuitive knowledge and then at how it specifically relates to your psychic experience.

There’s a lot to be said for intuition. For most of human history it was one of the major ways that knowledge was derived from the world. Nearly all of Aristotle’s writings were written “on a hunch” and plenty of his most important hunches are still being considered today.

When we talk about intuition we’re generally addressing a broad feeling, perhaps indistinct, but that can be very strong. It’s also been described as the “un-processed” mental information that all of us receive – and from all kinds of sources – but that we only use for certain situations.

Racist Attacks Elderly Black Man To See Whether His ‘Knockout’ Would Be ‘Nationally Televised’

by
Conrad Alvin Barrett
Conrad Alvin Barrett
A Texas man has been charged with a federal hate crime after he assaulted an elderly black man in an attack motivated by the “knockout game.”

Conrad Alvin Barrett singled out his victim — who authorities did not identify — because of the color of his skin, and federal prosecutors charged him one count of violating the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act.

Prosecutors allege that according to video recovered from Barrett’s phone, he said, “The plan is to see if I were to hit a black person, would this be nationally televised?
They allege that he then approached the victim, “hit [him] with such force that the man immediately fell to the ground…then laughed and said ‘knockout’ as he ran to his vehicle and fled.
⏩ The victim suffered two jaw fractures and lost three teeth in the attack.
According to U.S. Acting Assistant Attorney General Jocelyn Samuels, “The complaint alleges Barrett made several videos, one in which he identifies himself and another in which he makes a racial slur. In addition, Barrett had allegedly been working up the ‘courage’ to play the ‘knockout game’ for approximately a week.”
⏩ Other videos on the phone allegedly have Barrett using racial slurs and saying that African-Americans “haven’t fully experienced the blessing of evolution.
