Terracotta Warrior Flashmob Event Held at World Travel Market London

by
Terracotta Warriors-Themed Pop-Up Event Held at World Travel Market London

On November 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., a Terracotta Warrior Flashmob event organized by the Shaanxi Provincial Tourism Development Commission was held at the World Travel Market London. 50 professional performers dressed up as the Chinese emperor Qin Shi Huang, imperial concubines and terracotta warriors performed terracotta warrior flashmob at ExCel London

The graceful performances of Chinese court dances, most notably the lead performer's Dance of Qin Wang Dian Bing (Review of the Troops by Emperor Qin Shi Huang), attracted a large number of visitors, many of whom cheered enthusiastically and waited until the end of the performance to take selfies with the dancers.

An event, a cultural feast
The Terracotta Warriors Flashmob event is an innovative approach to raising the awareness around the world to the many unique aspects of Chinese culture and history. The successful hosting of the event helped further promote the profound cultural history that is identified with Shaanxi province and the unique tourism resources that are made available as a result of the province's rich history.

  • The event is an important step in transforming the province into a world-renowned tourism destination.
"It is amazing!" said David, a British tourist. "This is the first time I have watched traditional Chinese performances. I found the event highly interesting, as it not only offered us a chance to get a better understanding of the Terracotta Warriors, but also let us feel the depth and sophistication of Chinese culture. Now that I have seen the performance, I plan to visit the real Terracotta Army in Shaanxi province with my family."

The commission has planned several more Terracotta Warriors Flashmob events on November 7 at and near many of London's famous tourist attractions, with scheduled performance at a Square near Big Ben and the London Eye, two of the city's most renowned tourist attractions.

  • On the same day, the cosers will also stop at several other landmark destinations including Big Ben, China Town, St Paul's Cathedral, and the Tower of London for staged photography sessions.

Alzheimer's Association Honors the Life and Legacy of Gene Wilder With New Campaign Inspired by the Classic Film "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory"

Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory
In honor of National Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month, the Alzheimer's Association today unveils the Pure Imagination Project, a campaign encouraging people to learn more about the disease and join the efforts to fulfill the organization's vision of a world without Alzheimer's.

Reflecting the creativity and charm of Willy Wonka, as played by legendary actor Gene Wilder, the new video features the famous "Pure Imagination" scene from "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory," but reinterprets the magical, candy-filled world with sweets disappearing piece by piece, much like the impact that Alzheimer's has on 5 million Americans across the country.
  • Gene Wilder, known for many iconic roles outside of Willy Wonka's purple coat, passed away from complications of Alzheimer's last year.
"Alzheimer's disease is a brutal and unforgiving enemy that can rob a person of his self-expression, the ability to walk, to read, to write and to find joy in the world. Simply, the person loses himself," said Karen B. Wilder. "When I saw this campaign, I knew that it brilliantly and beautifully captured all that Alzheimer's can take away, and my hope is that it will motivate people to learn more and to seek to change the course of this disease for future generations."
The Pure Imagination Project was developed pro bono by a creative team at MullenLowe's Winston-Salem office, all of whose families have been touched by Alzheimer's disease.
  • The campaign encourages all to lend their imagination to the fight and support efforts aimed at ending this devastating disease.
In addition to MullenLowe, the Alzheimer's Association's Pure Imagination Project is also made possible thanks to the support of the Gene Wilder estate, Warner Brothers and Universal Music, with visual effects by Significant Others, all recognizing the urgency of this mission and honoring Wilder for his fight against the disease.
"The Alzheimer's Association is honored to have the opportunity to reimagine this legendary film scene in such a powerful and poignant way," said Michael Carson, chief marketing officer at the Alzheimer's Association. "The Alzheimer's Association is relentless in our fight to end this disease through our support of innovative and novel research initiatives, and unwavering support of families who have been affected. This campaign is an inspiring reminder that there is a lot of work to be done, but a world without Alzheimer's is possible if we join together."
"Having lost my father to Alzheimer's, and my mother a year later from the toll of being his caregiver, I know firsthand there is no sugar-coating the impact of this disease," said David Olsen, group creative director at MullenLowe Winston-Salem. "Just as Gene inspired millions to believe anything is possible with the power of pure imagination, we hope this work will inspire others to help fulfill the Alzheimer's Association's mission to imagine a world without Alzheimer's."
The Pure Imagination Project will encourage people to imagine a world without Alzheimer's with additional support from in-kind media partners, including Amobee, Dstillery and Samba TV.

Idol Worship: UMe Honors Billy Idol's '80s Rock and Punk Legacy With Vinyl Reissue Bonanza

by
Billy Idol and Rebel Yell, plus double-LP greatest-hits collection Idolize Yourself: The Very Best of Billy Idol - Covers
"Billy Idol," "Rebel Yell" and double-LP "Idolize Yourself: The Very Best of Billy Idol"
UMe and punk rock icon Billy Idol celebrate several of his best-loved works with newly remastered vinyl reissues of Idol's first two solo LPs, Billy Idol and Rebel Yell, plus the expansive double-LP greatest-hits collection Idolize Yourself: The Very Best of Billy Idol.
  • Each release is available now on high-quality vinyl with faithfully reproduced iconic original album art.
Billy Idol's series of successes in the early 1980s brought punk attitude into the pop mainstream. With a career that stretched back to the original British punk scene as the front-man of scene trailblazers Generation X, the swaggering, charismatic Idol relocated to New York City at the dawn of the '80s and reinvented himself as one of the era's most consistently popular performers.

Billy Idol
Billy Idol (via BBC)
Billy Idol, originally released on July 16, 1982, introduced Idol to mainstream American audiences and succeeded in launching his solo career. Teaming Idol with producer Keith Forsey and longtime guitarist/collaborator Steve Stevens, Billy Idol introduced a sleek, streamlined sound and includes hits such as "White Wedding," and "Hot in the City."

Originally released on November 10, 1983, the multi-platinum smash Rebel Yell built on the foundation created by its predecessor and features Idol advancing and evolving his dance infused rock/pop sound. Once again working with Stevens and Forsey, with recording done at New York's Electric Lady Studios, Rebel Yell was a commercial smash featuring songs including the legendary title track, "Eyes Without a Face," and "Flesh for Fantasy." Each of these hits are represented by iconic music videos that kept Idol in the public eye during the initial heyday of MTV.

While Billy Idol and Rebel Yell flash back to Idol's formative days as a solo performer, Idolize Yourself: The Very Best of Billy Idol offers a widescreen overview of his entire storied recording career.

First issued on CD in 2008, the 18-song Idolize Yourself features all of Idol's vintage hits including his early club smashes "Dancing with Myself" and "Mony Mony," plus "Cradle of Love," "Rebel Yell," "White Wedding," "Eyes Without A Face," "Flesh For Fantasy," "Sweet Sixteen," "To Be A Lover," and more.
  • The record concludes with two songs newly recorded just for this collection's initial release: "John Wayne" and "New Future Weapon."
Each of Billy Idol's recordings retain their original power, despite many of them having been released over thirty years ago. There is no better way to hear them than on these classic albums, newly released on high-quality vinyl.

by
Kyle Knight's New Song: Hey Sister
Kyle Knight's New Song: Hey Sister
As international headlines blast about sex, sexuality, and the open discussions being had about its abuse and misuses; rapper Kyle Knight addresses its underside in his latest release.

The song, "Hey Sister" frankly addresses the perils of prostitution in an age where women are taking control over being both objectified and victimized. The dynamic track goes to the heart of self-empowerment by pointing out what is still taking place in society's underbelly, while others are fighting back against sexual violation and victimization.

The song's video tells a riveting storyline that invokes thought-provoking views and stirs deep emotion in its climatic ending.

Quickly becoming known for the conscious hip hop components in his songs on the May 2017 release of The Truth EP, a 4-track project, Knight delivers deep insight on news dominated topics—whether about respect for women, America's addictions, or hidden government agendas.

Currently available on Kyle's website and in digital outlets worldwide, another example of his timely tracks is "Addiction," which explores the opioid epidemic plaguing millions around the world.

UNICEF: "Violent Discipline, Sexual Abuse And Homicides Stalk Millions Of Children Worldwide"

Staggering numbers of children – some as young as 12 months old – are experiencing violence, often by those entrusted to take care of them, UNICEF said in a new report released today.
"The harm inflicted on children around the world is truly worrying," said UNICEF Chief of Child Protection Cornelius Williams. "Babies slapped in the face; girls and boys forced into sexual acts; adolescents murdered in their communities – violence against children spares no one and knows no boundaries."
A Familiar Face: Violence in the lives of children and adolescents uses the very latest data to show that children experience violence across all stages of childhood and in all settings:

Violence against young children in their homes:

  • Three-quarters of the world's 2- to 4-year-old children – around 300 million – experience psychological aggression and/or physical punishment by their caregivers at home;
  • Around 6 in 10 one year olds in 30 countries with available data are subjected to violent discipline on a regular basis. Nearly a quarter of one-year-olds are physically shaken as punishment and nearly 1 in 10 are hit or slapped on the face, head or ears.
  • Worldwide, 1 in 4 children under age five – 176 million – are living with a mother who is a victim of intimate partner violence.
Sexual violence against girls and boys:
  • Worldwide, around 15 million adolescent girls aged 15 to 19 have experienced forced sexual intercourse or other forced sexual acts in their lifetime.
  • Only 1 per cent of adolescent girls who had experienced sexual violence said they reached out for professional help.
  • In the 28 countries with data, 90 per cent of adolescent girls who had experienced forced sex, on average, said the perpetrator of the first incident was known to them. Data from six countries reveals friends, classmates and partners were among the most frequently cited perpetrators of sexual violence against adolescent boys.
Violent deaths among adolescents:
  • Globally, every 7 minutes an adolescent is killed by an act of violence.
  • In the United States, non-Hispanic black boys aged 10 to 19 years old are almost 19 times more likely to be murdered than non-Hispanic white boys of the same age. If the homicide rate among non-Hispanic black adolescent boys is applied nationwide, the United States would be one of the top ten most deadly countries in the world.
  • In 2015, the risk of being killed by homicide for a non-Hispanic black adolescent boy in the United States was the same as the risk of being killed due to collective violence for an adolescent boy living in war-torn South Sudan.
  • Latin America and the Caribbean is the only region where adolescent homicide rates have increased; nearly half of all homicides among adolescents globally occurred in this region in 2015.
Violence in schools:
  • Half the population of school-age children – 732 million – live in countries where corporal punishment at school is not fully prohibited.
  • Three-quarters of documented school shootings that have taken place over the past 25 years occurred in the United States.

UNICEF prioritises efforts to end violence across all its work, including supporting government efforts to improve services for children affected by violence, developing policies and legislation that protect children, and helping communities, parents and children to prevent violence through practical programmes like parenting courses and actions against domestic violence.

To end violence against children, UNICEF is calling for governments to take urgent action and support the INSPIRE guidance which has been agreed and promoted by WHO, UNICEF and the Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children, including:
  • Adopting well-coordinated national action plans to end violence against children – incorporating education, social welfare, justice and health systems, as well as communities and children themselves.
  • Changing behaviours of adults and addressing factors that contribute to violence against children, including economic and social inequities, social and cultural norms that condone violence, inadequate policies and legislation, insufficient services for victims, and limited investments in effective systems to prevent and respond to violence.
  • Focussing national policies on minimizing violent behaviour, reducing inequalities, and limiting access to firearms and other weapons.
  • Building social service systems and training social workers to provide referrals, counselling and therapeutic services for children who have experienced violence.
  • Educating children, parents, teachers, and community members to recognise violence in all its many forms and empowering them to speak out and report violence safely.
  • Collecting better disaggregated data on violence against children and tracking progress through robust monitoring and evaluation.
About UNICEF:
UNICEF has saved more children's lives than any other humanitarian organization. We work tirelessly to help children and their families, doing whatever it takes to ensure children survive. We provide children with healthcare and immunization, clean water, nutrition and food security, education, emergency relief and more.

Hi!

Customer B
Hi how are you doing?

Customer A
So, we’re looking for a bed for my five-year-old daughter.

Associate
We have a brand new line of furniture that I’m really excited about. It has a really amazing feature that kids, especially, love, because you might have the creepy uncle that comes over one day and starts to chase your kid around and make him feel uncomfortable, so he wants to escape. He can run away from the uncle!

Customer B
Oh…..

Associate
You know what I mean? Or, like the caregiver who’s maybe hitting her a little too hard. Because a lot of times children feel unsafe in their own home.

Customer C
I’m not even sure how to respond to that.

Customer B
Do you get a lot of people looking for that?

Associate
It’s so prevalent these days that you really need a place to escape and hide.

Customer D
Why are those things happening at home? I don’t think that would happen…

This crib is one of our best sellers. And I’m sure you know…you know. You get so tired, so impatient and you just shake your baby and just throw him in the crib!

Customer C
The foam that comes on the crib…?

Associate
Yes, it’s to protect the baby. Let me show you one other option. This is our highchair. Now sometimes, the chair will go over as you’re hitting your child. This time, the chair is secure because it’s weighted. All four legs have weights, and it won’t move. You’ve spend hours making the macaroni and cheese and what do they do? They throw it on the floor!

Customer E
Well, you know what? No one is trying to hurt my child.

Three out of four young children worldwide are violently disciplined at home.

Director
We saw you were really upset. Do you want to talk about it?

Customer C
I thought I was just going to get some furniture for a five year old, and I ended up getting a reality check.

Customer B
It’s hard to even hear numbers like that, you know…three out of every four…
